or Vienna's "Gürtel"). I don't know, SLEPT was OK, ANACONDA simply
doesn't make it for me in its new form, chaotic noise terror of the
disturbing kind, TEMPLE lifted spirits all around, even though the
inescapable "Where's the drums??!!" shouts simply wouldn't stop ("iich
wot es schlaagzüüg", Swiss dialect, even though Jürg or Eva could
probably provide more accurate spellings here), things went on and I
caught myself wondering during songs what the next song would be...
never a good sign.
ROMEO DOWN, then, was great, again, and FLOOD 2 successfully ended the
regular set. The what some people called campfire version of I WAS WORNG
was not everybody's cup of tea, and I, too, can think of a couple of
things that I enjoy more than rockers sitting on the stage, and people
just wouldn't "shut the f**k up" (E., twice tonight), whereas NEVERLAND
got everybody listening, a glorious prelude to a storming LUCRETIA,
which, strangely, stopped abruptly in the middle of the song... if my
memory serves me right... (anyone..?)
The instrumental proved to be the guitarists' playground again, and VT
burned down the venue as it usually does, with tonight Eldritch ending
the gig with the clear, unmistakeable proclamation that
"THIS...WAR...IS...WRONG!", which he forcefully repeated 3 times. No
time for sophisticated liguistic word play here... to be understood by
the people present had top priority. Quite a lot of people seemed to
have understood, apparently.
Then half of everybody went outside, the rest stayed for the
party/clubbing. Anyway, The Sisters won. Again.
You can say what you want, but to fill venues like this at a price of
CHF 70.- (= EUR 45.-) with practically grown-ups only and with no album
since forever on a Wednesday night in the middle of the holiday season
is and remains to be simply spectacular. Tonight the band sounded great,
better than the last couple of times I've seen them, and I have to bore
you with the inevitable epilogue that this gig has strongly reinforced
my longing for the bloody new album and that I can't wait to hear some
decent recordings of ROMEO DOWN, SUMMER, and CRASH & BURN...
If you hesitated whether or not to go and see them somewhere this
Summer, do go and see the best Sisters you've seen in years. |

just got back from swizterland today (we made a week long holiday of it)!
it was a good gig, but maybe not quite a great one...
hi-lights: hearing 'slept' again, both 'floods' & a storming 'lucretia', (which did stop dead).
eldritch really seemed to be enjoying himself, as did the sold out 'up for it' crowd.
in fact i would say that the crowd was the one of the biggest hi-lights. it makes you believe the sisters are a going concern.
staying at the x-tra hotel was cool & seeing the band hanging around the bar before the gig was a thrill.
we met some nice people including a couple from berne who were attending their first ever sisters gig & a guy who had flown in from north germany.
we also saw a white haired american guy who must have been about 60 who had come on his own - respect.
low-lights: no emma / up town top ranking.
eldritch's voice kept coming & going, not as bad as at the blank canvas 2003, but still weaker than at joseph's well.
so i guess its best to catch him early doors on tour!
still had loads of fun - switzerland was a cool place & we got to see zurich, geneva & we went to the top of the jungfrau mountain! |

So not only has the setlist remained pretty darned similar to 2003 (and even the order of songs, in many cases), but Von is repeating his ad libs too... Methinks two years is long enough to come up with some new jokes, no?

Stonking show for me! Of course I'm biased, because it's "my" town, and I was very nervous about the crowd: Would Zurich turn up? Would they enjoy the Rock'n'Roll band? But everything turned out fine imho. Von's voice wasn't on top form, but the band enjoyed themselves obviously, the sound again was great and powerful, and the crowd did their best and seemed very cheerful too. No nutters around and a wonderful atmosphere. The fact that Adam and Chris sacrificed themselves to giving autographs after the gig was a nice surprise for me.
 to all Dominion and Heartland people from elsewhere who turned up - you made it even better than it would have been anyway, and it was lovely to see so many familiar faces.

| I still haven't worked out what date was my favourite but Zurich has to be one of them. We had very nice accommodation near the venue and some others (Sisters included) had accommodation within the venue and good weather on the day of the gig (much to Eva's relief even if still below 30 degrees). Concerns about a sedate Swiss audience were unfounded, particulary as Pete managed to get a respectable moshpit going! Got to speak to Adam and Chris afterwards and commented that the sound on this tour has been stunning. I asked them what they'd done to make the sound better and Chris said, "We've got better." |

Well... what can I say... I still haven't get rid of the illness I got in Hildesheim... but if I look back - it was one of the best holidays in my life (and I have seen 33 summers).
Zürich was the first of the 2005 Sisters gigs for me. Good and only very good memories
Great show
Got the setlist and autographs of three good men to it.
When I gave the setlist for signing to Chris, he said something like: "Aah, it's you!" and drew brackets around the name "Susanne". Have no idea was it just a joke out of blue or had he really noticed someone in the first row who is really a huge fan of this song 
Anyway I thanked them for the great show and asked him to give my regards to Johnny Vegas which made him laugh.
Later, when the setlist was given to Von (who wasn't there) I met Nurse in the crowd and asked him to sign my ticket. He was agree and asked did I have a pen. I didn't. He said that that he could come back later. And he did it. I said something like "It's pity that I don't have a March Violets ticket" and he answered: "I'm just a nurse".
Very nice persons, I have to say.

you're welcome! I enjoyed having all three of you staying over at my place.
Funnily enough everybody who's been to the Zurich gig and posted here has forgotten one thing: This was the only Sisters indoors show with a support act. I was fearing the worst when I heard that there would be one - for several reasons that shall not be discussed here - anyway, they weren't as bad as I feared, but obviously not good enough either to leave an impression. But at least they had the grace to say Thanks for being allowed to support The Sisters, and they seemed to mean it.
