Thank you for your good wishes, everyone. I got rid of the blasted thing - it took two weeks for the symptoms to clear up. I've spent the last two weeks broadcasting English lessons from my living room to my students. The teacher part isn't so bad, but everything else is done by e-mail - and that's ...

I have CV-19. It's 4.30 in the morning and I can't sleep for coughing - so I am self medicating with Rittenhouse rye and listening to First & Last and Always hoping that one or the other will help me get some sleep. All I can say is that - yes - the illness can be rather mild, but the symptoms are a...

The Sisters of Mercy appear in the British library

The Sisters' 12" cover for Alice appears in The Gothic exhibition at the British Library until Jan 20th 2015. The exhibition traces the Gothic Imagination from Horace Walpole's Castle of Utranto (pub 1764) through to the Hammer Horror and briefly toching upon the music scene and current gothic fashi...

Hands down - The Sisters of Mercy.

I went to THAT gig at the Astoria where the sound was just terrible. The gig was so bad, that the London Underground bought the Astoria & demolished it to ensure that no-one would suffer the same fate again.

Who cares what HMV does? It's not like they were going to sell many (overpriced) copies of Lost Prophets stuff anyway. Principles are easy when you can afford them.

I'm going to the m*****n nephs gig at Brixton. Anyone else going? Any particular pub folk fancy meeting up in. I'm from the provinces (Aldbrickham).

I remember a Wetherspoons filled with enthusiastic dominoes players. So, anyone fancy a game of dominoes on Wednesday 18th?

I love NMA. Unfortunately due to the economy I have been unable to catch their tour this year. The new album is different - more drum, than guitar based than before. It has good tracks, but I'm not sure if it hangs together as a whole - I found my attention wandering at some point. Anyway, NMA are a...

I was thinking more of the lines that rather than have one meeting, which few people will be able to attend because of location, transportation etc we each arrange something in our local area and see what happens. I'm happy to put something together for Reading/Berkshire (UK not Pennsylvania) and so...

OK, so how about a Sisters fans' day? We pick a day, and arrange a Sisters themed meet up in a town of our choice. It may be a coffee bar, a pub or even a disco where tunes can be played loudly. It needn't be anything too elaborate or expensive. Then we share the stories and pictures here. I suppose...

Because he's read T S Eliot, which he liberally paraphrases from. For example - T S Eliot (Love songs of Alfred Prufrock) In the room the women come and go. Talking of Michelangelo. Eldridtch (Amphetamine Logic) And the women come and go talk - talking about me like they know Both lines scan in a si...

dreading someone seing me and assuming I'm only going to watch it because of the sisters references The only person who'd do that would be someone who'd have gone to see the film for the Sister's references for themselves. You'd never know, you could have ice cream together and it would be the star...

So it really has come to the point where 'we' (as a forum) get excited by the fact a popular film includes 'our' bands name on a characters shirt and a song on the sound track? Well, considering Vonn has allegedly spent time trying to get Sisters' songs off soundtracks (Showgirls?), the fact that o...

Not feeling insulted in the slightest - the film is funny and the manner in which the film uses This Corrosion (which also features with the end credits) works very well. I wouldn't be surprised if it got more folk to check out the band's catalogue - there's also a nod to the Nephilim's Preacher Man...

At the World's End

Went to see the new Cornetto trilogy movie last night. A sanguine comedy. To say more would be giving too much away, but I hope Von was tickled pink if they asked him.

Those that went to University are not having much fun either - they've paid huge sums of money for their education and now they are being asked to work for free with no guarantee of a job at the end of it. Britain is not a great place to be for young people at the moment to its shame. It might be wo...

The Pergamon museum. It has quite a lot of Sumerian stuff and is very well displayed.

There are a number of history walks (in English) that are very good and informative if that is your bag.

A beer hall - The Hoffbrauhaus was nice.

I enjoyed the Shepherd's Bush gig. The vocals got lost in the mix on some of the heavier songs, but Psychonaught, Preacher Man and many of the songs came over well. I found all those bloody camera screens distracting though. I eneded watching chunks of the gig through a 3 inch iphone screen or whate...

Just went to see the Kerouac scroll of On the Road at the British library and then went to see the film of the same. The film makes a bit more sense if you've read the book. The film wasn't terrible, but you have to be in the mood for it as it is a bit slow paced at times. Viggo Mortensen made a gre...

The new Dredd movie soundtrack. It's got some rather nice industrial beats and really trippy moments too. The movie isn't bad either and perhaps, inadvertantly, creates a genre of 3-D movies for stoners.

Highlights on the album include She's a Pass and Ma Ma's requiem.
