.1 love hurts .2 relations take time and afther it's over it even hurts more ! .3 I'm staying single ! --- This supposedly wise idea that people have of "I'm staying single!" is narrow . How can you know that being single is invariably 'better'? The experiences you have in a relationship are some o...

@ Mrs Richey James and nigel d: you lucky bastards... I had a wonderful relationship over 7 years, that ended at the very second I delivered him to the alcohol clinic... Decided then that I'm better off alone. But asking myself ever since, if alcoholism is - a general minor Rockstardom disease. - a...

I'm not a goth, actual or otherwise. "Exploring the dark side" is considerably different to having a moan - a pastime someone above was rubbishing, not that either I or you were doing it, incidentally. This dark side thing is not necessarily profound. Light and optimism, as opposed to fear, pessimis...

Kylie

Just when I thought Kylie Minogue was perfect proof that people can still be young (or even cute, still) in their 30s, news broke today that she has breast cancer.

Huh? You guys kidding? There's plenty of people who want to sing/write/talk about how depressed they are and how f-cked everything is! Yeah, but truthfully, most gothic types just need to lighten up a bit. I've thought so for many years. I'm not a goth myself, by the way.... no, really - I mean real...

It's biblical in that that it is a bible quote. Andrew said in an interview that he always knew the album was going to be their first and last. Hence the title, which was to be prophetic and smug at the same time, and Wake. He could see things on the horizon. The words to Possession is about that. ...

POLL: Do you have black hair?

Curious to know about this. Although I don't dye my hair (black, anyway) I may go back to it sometime. It's easier when you're younger, however!

That crucial first love. Sort of happens too young, though, doesn't it? Like in instances where you look back (with added years of wisdom under your belt) and say, "Why didn't I see that coming?", "what did I ever see in so-and-so?", "what a user!", et al.

The gothic music of today is very different to the one of 15 or 20 years ago. Maybe the people who become goths today have a different feeling for life than the people of 20 years ago? I say this because the gothic music of today is not at all to my taste, but I think it's unfair to say it used to ...

Fave album titles?

I always liked 'Cargo', the second Men At Work album title, even though I've never actually heard the record. It just seemed like an ideal album name for a gigging band doing lots of international touring to break themselves, which they were at the time.

What does FALAA mean?

This album title seems very biblical. Okay they were goths (even if they deny it) but I never expected it from Eldritch, assuming it indeed is a religious/biblical reference. Is it?

As I have said around here before, I generally stopped reading when I got the internet. But try "Secrets of the Rainmaker" by Chin Ning Chu, or "The Instant Millionaire" by Mark Fisher. For something more escapist, try Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake. As for Catcher in the Rye, Big Si, I've read that bo...

I used to get lower back pain, sporadically. Since I started sleeping on the floor, it's gone and never re-surfaced - even if my friends continually give me a ribbing about not owning a mattress. I haven't had any lower back ache for several years now. Also, perhaps some of the ailments around here ...

Look, I dunno if Dickens is a Motorhead fan! When someone commented that the music of Simple Minds was reminiscent of fjords and rolling hills, their keyboard player, Mick MacNeil, suggested that heavy metal bands were perhaps inspired by the Alps. Anyway, how did/do you save (and attach here) the t...
