Thanks a million - I think you could be right. Baron's is a true afterhours bar and we are usually pretty tanked by the time we get there, coupled with the fact that the place is so dimly lit and smoky, thus making it difficult to see anything very clearly. I'll be getting pi--ed there on Friday nig...

Paintings by Rubens?
I am hoping someone can help me identify a painting I have been talking about with a partner in crime, so to speak.... We frequent an amazing, shadowy afterhours bar in Sydney (Barons) that hasn't changed in decades. (Seems our licencing laws are much different to the UK, where everything shuts earl...

Cindytalk Duran Duran Psychedelic Furs Bauhaus Simple Minds before the heart and soul (Mick MacNeil) left Elvis Presley Randy Newman Diamanda Galas March Violets .... and on it goes. Dunno if anyone here is familiar with the beautiful ambient/gothic experi-noise of Gordon Sharp's Cindytalk band. (He...

Hey Indrek! No sweat, I had my Duran Duran and Go West phase too. Shriekback and The Sisters shone large though :D --- Even Duran had a gothic-looking mid-80s phase with their mellow Arcadia off-shoot project. But they don't answer questions about why they portrayed such a look (black suits, black ...

Do I believe in God? Actually, yes, I guess so, but I don't know what shape or form He (oops, sorry, She!) takes, and I don't pretend to know. At this stage, I don't know if I ever will know between now and then end of my (current) life. I hope I do. I got into meditation for a while, but this was w...

Sorry to sound awfully naive, but what is it? A list of people's favourite albums? I assume it's a list of punters' faves, not critics, otherwise Bob Dylan and Marvin Gaye would be in the top five of the list, not somewhere down. Was Radiohead the number one fave amongst voters, or is the list random?

I worked with a guy about five years back in a job I eventually got fired from. I am yet to kick them in the head for that, but they'll keep. Anyway, some new guy started work with us and it soon became obvious that he was a "born again". Shortly into the first shift, he said, "So, do you believe in...

But believing, in any organised structure no thanks, I'd rather think about everyting on me own, and have my own clerical rules and moral guidelines  --- This wouldn't do much to help people who need spiritual teachers or guidance. However, I'm glad for you that you have sussed out your own be...

When people ask what music I listen to, I usually say "Whatever's on the radio", which is often true. By the way, my tastes are diverse and I am not one for the clique-ishness of some music-scene bullsh-tters. If I wanted to talk to a pussycat, I'd go down the SPCA. How many bands, by your estimatio...

A much more satisfying read than Mercer's "Black Book" which was pure twaddle. Hmm. To my knowledge, Mercer is the only author to have been singled out for criticism by the Sisters in that Virgin.net interview, viewable 'ere. Er, no it isn't :?: but, anyway, Ian Shirley wrote a book about Bauhaus c...

Here's another 'hilarious' (and true) eBay story.... I sold something for $660 US dollars on eBay. The buyer lives in Calgary, Canada. I live in Sydney, Australia. He paid by credit card and then did a credit card reversal once he received the item. Now he has the money and the goods. Here's the tru...
