the world cup is here

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I don't follow football, or any other sport for that matter.

Why should I care whether this or that lot wins a game that I have nothing do with? Do any of the participants support me in my trials? Exactly. Why should I care about their pointless, if well-remunerated, kickabouts?

Autistic? No. Glaswegian, yes, and my upbringing there, having to deal with the close association between football and sectarianism, together with the twice-weekly degrading experience of P.E. at school, turned me off all sport for life.

Nothing to do with Scotland's failure to qualify for donkeys' years.

As an aside, my best year at high school was the one when I was hit in the eye with a raw potato in October. Blood vessels in my eyeball burst and I was blind in that eye for a few days. BUT, I got off P.E. and had to wear shades for the rest of the school year. Black October eh? Thanks John.

in this house, both of us are on the sofa for every minute.
3 games a day. THREE. and none of them interfere with school/work hours, or staff meetings, or anything. KOs at 5pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 11pm (not every night. mix and match).
I am in seventh heaven already, and when it comes to 0 days, 0 hours and 5 mins to go i will be bouncing up and down on the sofa, annoying mr s and the cats.

England MAY make it past the first round, but that is it. Winners? Brazil, Spain or Argentina?

Nothing would please me more than to see the end of compulsory P.E. 'teaching' in UK schools. Let it be optional. Let the morons play whatever stupid games their so-called 'teacher' chooses for them, and equally humiliating games in the changing room afterwards. Let the smart kids hang about with their physics and maths teachers, learning about computers.

Especially the POR 7 - 0 NKD group match when six second-half goals were scored in front of you? :)

Incidentally, NKD always showed their international teams with a 24hr time-lag.

But after their "Heroic" performance against Brazil (and yes they should have won), Kim Jong-il authorised live coverage of POR v. NKD.

Oops!

No NKD international sports team has been shown live on state television since.

Seems you remember it better than I do. It was a fun afternoon despite being in the pouring rain. England v Algeria was like watching paint dry though.

Right, time to dig out my orange beanie.

Don't be naive. some media will cover that as well, in small proportion, of course, it's obvious. but FIFA nor Brazilian gov. want it, so they gonna do whatever they can do prevent, distract this piece of news.
it's gonna be: happy, happy, joy, joy, fussball world cup in Brazil, 3/4 naked bodies, samba and sport.

World Cup, Olympics and all that kind of circuses that tour the planet are just instruments to destroy the economies of the countries that are unfortunate enough to organize them and extinct money of their taxed citizens to push them to specific small groups of people that already have a plenty and usually don't pay taxes....

Does anybody else know someone, or perhaps is that someone, who in conversation will list all the negatives about Englands chances but then turn them into the reason they think England will actually triumph and win? I know about nine guys who are convinced this is Englands year without a trace of irony. Zero expectation, a squad mixture of untried kids and old bezzers, unsuitable climate and so on they'll admit but then they'll wrap it up with some sort of 'they won't expect it from us, that's why we'll turn them all over'.

I know dick all about football but after a while I end up being convinced myself.
