Just got back from seeing it & I think it was the best one since Empire.
I'll not spoil it, suffice to say, the character development was extraordinary. Especially Kylo & Rey.
Brilliantly acted & the effects were mind blowing.
It'll make you laugh, cry & just plain say WOW
Spectacular.

"See ya later, kid..."
Four strings good, six strings bad
This is NOT Antonio Banderas
I saw it yesterday and it was somehow disappointment
But will not spoil with details as there certainly is a lot of people that would like to go and see it first hand.

Saw it and enjoyed it.
It wasn't a perfect movie, it wasn't even a perfect Star Wars movie, and there were one or two scenes I'm sure we could all agree didn't quite work out. But I hugely appreciated the fact that it took those kind of risks with that well-established a franchise, and - for the most part - delivered on what it was trying to do. For a movie that could have played it safe, just delivered what the fanboys wanted, and still been able to rake in the money, that was worthy of respect.

I can see how people are saying it's just a rehash of Empire in the same way that VII was of the original Star Wars (and anyone who insists I call it "Episode 4 A New Hope" can bite me)...
...but I don't think it's entirely fair. Star Wars has always been a rehash of what went before - Lucas grew up on Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon serial movies, and just wanted to remake them.
Also: DEFINITE SPOILER I think Ben is lying about Rey's parents.

ok so far ive found two copies.... one was a what you'd expect from a cam-in-the-cinema rip and the other was quite excellent.... but both have the opening prologue -"chapterVIII" etc- in f**king foreign. i know from bitter experience (phantom menace) that those opening scrolling lines can be the last point at which your dreams are still unshattered. so f**k it.

Overall I think it's a good movie...BUT I hate all the humor thrown in. I think the movie felt kind of flat. What was the deal with the Casino? Did someone involved with Phantom Menace get to write that part?
SPOILER ALERT!!!
I was hoping that Rey would actually take Kylos hand. That would have set a new spin to things for once. But as I anticipated from the start, they're doing the whole circular time thing. Just the fact that the "snow" planet (that looked f**king fabulous) was at the end instead of the beginning. Rey seems too powerful already...I mean...all those rocks? Hoped she would lift maybe one and then the Falcon could've blasted a hole.
Ok. I must stop myself. I'm raving on too much. Sorry.

Burning 'cross the breeze.
Overall OK and not disappointed
SPOILER ALERT
I just thought that the story with Finn (Casino, codebreaker etc) could have been cut out and would n't have affected the plot or outcome at all. Those were also the weakest parts of the film....touched by the hand of The Phantom Menace in look and feel. (see what I did there).
Anyway Merry Christmas and May the Force be with you all in 2018.
Edit: I see that Zacharias also got the Phantom Menace vibe. ^^^^

I liked the fathier chase on Canto Bight. When they stampeded through all the bars & buildings destroying everything they reminded me of my catsGC wrote:Overall OK and not disappointed

Maybe you could recreate it with Lego Star Wars and cats. I hear You tube calling...Pista wrote:I liked the fathier chase on Canto Bight. When they stampeded through all the bars & buildings destroying everything they reminded me of my catsGC wrote:Overall OK and not disappointed

I haven't a great deal to add. Too long, probably. Better than average as a film, average as a Star Wars film.
Rogue One remains the best of the new films for me.

The CGI (specifically Tarkin and young Leia) in Rogue One skirts uncanny valley a little too closely at times. But that's a minor issue.

I thought the Tarkin CGI looked like Dobby after a while.
Thankfully Leia's was just a few seconds

I liked Rogue One the first time round...saw it again last week and for some reason it annoyed me immensely. I found all the cast irritating....only bit I liked was the 'psycho' Darth Vader at the end.
The CGI's were even more CGI with the second viewing.
On a brighter note saw the original Darth Vader costume, R2D2 etc at StarWars Identities today....

I liked it and will go again. liked the entertainment and we can't wait to go to the next star wars convention. they need to announce though.
at GC: we saw the StarWars identities a couple of year ago in Munich was nice, this was me, a Nautolian Sith hehe:
