Book: Waiting For Another War

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hello Heartlanders.

Announcing:

Waiting For Another War
A History of The Sisters Of Mercy
Vol. I: 1980-1985

Here is the website: https://www.gkwfilmworks.com/sisters

I will post a link here when I do an update but you can check in periodically to the Updates page if you like here: https://www.gkwfilmworks.com/sisters-updates

Information about adding your name to the waitlist/newsletter can be found on the above pages.

This book is a fanzine about The Sisters, and I wrote it without any input from the band. However, Heartland helped me a lot and there are even some quotes from the forum in there.

The first printing is sold out but I will be printing more; please put your name on the list!

Trevor

Trevor is very responsive, excited to be on the wait list for whatever comes next, softcover or hardcover. The key is that he'll be able to include all of the photos in the original printing!

I loved his 27-May-2020 update:

"I sold about 20 copies each to Venus Records, Bleecker Bob’s, Second Coming and See/Hear."

I fondly remember (and patronized) the first three in the 90s and beyond, though less familiar with See/Hear (I think it became a guitar school)? Those stores were a few of the then-many sources of proper vinyl and factory-pressed/silver CDs. Love the Bleeker Bob comment (and it turned into a Yogurt Shop).[/i]

Thanks! Yes, it was fun to do. Especially bringing it the last mile, which would not have happened without encouragement from Mark Andrews, Phil Verne and Nik Lagartija. So please support those good men by buying Mark's book, signing up to Phil's Facebook group, and reading Nik's blog.

See/Hear was a 'zine-only shop in a basement of E. 7th St., which incidentally is the same street where I did all the last years' work on WFAW. Sadly See/Hear closed, like so many great places in the neighborhood. See/Hear sold Romance And Assassination for maybe $5 as part of their dedication to the alternative community, and they told me they sold out in a couple weeks. More about that great spot from a great blog: https://vassifer.blogs.com/alexinnyc/20 ... ehear.html

an email from Trevor:

Hello Sisters fans,

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Waiting For Another War newsletter. I intend to send out a few of these over the coming months to keep you updated on the progress of the paperback printing of the book.

Because I have gone through the book manuscript carefully this time and corrected dozens of typos and small errors, the second printing will be a better book than the first. It will be more readable and, in some small areas, more correct. So: the same book, but superior.

For now I can report that I have reformatted the text and cover for paperback and sent the files to the printer for a proof copy. I expect the proof to arrive in about two weeks. Once I have approved it, it will be about five weeks before I have the books in my hands. So let's say two months from today, or mid September. Perfect reading for the long wait in the vaccination line.

For the moment I am going to crosspost most of the information in this newsletter to the website. But when the proof is approved and the printer is paid and the only thing left for me to do is await delivery of the books, I will send out a private email to this list with pre-ordering information. You will all have first crack.

Thank you all for your continued interest and patience.

Trevor

I’m looking forward to this. He hasn’t put up the purchase option yet has he?
