What do you use for rendering?

I've written a few OpenGL screensavers myself in the past, always been meaning to have a mess about with this kinda thing too.

if you put it as wallpaper on a resolution higher than 1024*768, make sure you center it (don't stretch!) and put it on a black background.. ;)

I spent 12 years working in highend 3d packages on SGI unix boxes.
Softimage, Wavefront before they merged with Alias, Power Animator Alias, Maya.

And since you obviously have skill in this department have you ever tried the Blender 3D package? I'm curious, really looking for a qualified review of the software? :?:
