Bootlegs

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

This is something I've been wondering about for years.
Why is it that on a lof ot Sisters bootlegs, and other bands bootlegs for the matter, the songs are misspelled.

There are lots of bootlegs with misspelled song titles, a word missing here and there or even words are that missing a letter.

Why is this?
Don't the people who make these bootlegs know anything about the band?
Seems like they are not familar with the band and the songs.
Or is it to bypass some copyright law?
Or are they just lazy and don't double check the songlist before they print it for the CD?

Maybe they're just out to rip off the fans and don't give a sh-t.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Not just Sisters bootleggers. Most bootlegs you find will have inaccurate information. For instance, Bauhaus covered a song by Brian Eno called "Third Uncle", and not, as this bootleg says, "Uncle Bob".

this is the problem mainly with the unreleased tracks. you know, they not so die hard fans to look such deep in this matter.
anyway, me think it's cool ;D
my favorite one is "the acid rain" on labels, but it was rather joke.
for example:

Burn (Lightning')
Heartland (The Hard Land)
Adrenochrome (All in Chrome)
Possession (Shapes of Dignity)
Floorshow (Shore, Show & Amber)
Temple of Love (Love Cathedral)
Anaconda (Abysses)
Alice (Malice)
Watch (Close for Looking)
Train (All in Line)
Ghostrider/ Louie Louie (Louie, Where Did You Go?)
long live rock'n'roll

Other examples:

The boot Amphetamine is not the Chicago 91 gig as written on the cover but Böblingen 91. :?

Bei Mir Bist Du Schön misses a few tracks on the booklet.

On 1996, Train is called Black Horizon. Other wrong comments as well.

On Visions At The Forum,
Romeo Down = Till The Morning Is Gone :?
We Are The Same Susanne = We Are The Saints....

On the boot "Possession" (Amsterdam Paradiso 83) :
- Anaconda is called "Zero"
- Emma is called "Emmaline"
- Adrenochrome is called "Sisters of mercy"
- Kiss the carpet is called "Kiss"
- Body electric is called "Louie Louie"
- Lights is called "In the rain"

Etc.

Before anyone else says it, here's the most famous misspell ever : on Vision Thing, Bon Jovi is called "The Sisters of Mercy". :innocent:

There is that band which hasn´t made an album for a while.
There are those manic fans aching for new songs.
Give a well known song a new name, and there will be enough people to buy it blindly.
Voila: The money is made.
Am I pessimistic?

Sometimes giving songs different names was a deliberate ploy by the bootleggers. Remember booting was/is illegal so it was sometimes done to cover up their actions.

Something like this:

1. Reflect
2. Bons
3. A Prayer
4. My Heart
5. Deep
7. Hey Now
8. Love
9. Sight

... was done to a) confuse the pressing plant "Hey! This is a Sisters bootleg!" and b) to confuse customs officials who, it was hoped, wouldn't recognise the dubious nature of the product during importation.
