SISTERS SONGS COVERED.

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

The snare sounds muffled to me. Some of the vocals in the first verse sound like they might be just the tiniest little bit off beat, but it's hard to tell. Is the echo/delay synched to your DAW's bpm?

I think if you EQ the snare to be brighter, that will make a significant difference, and improve the track overall (I'd actually make it brighter and add a big reverb if it were me).

I know it's not necessarily professional to go back and change things (Think George Lucas and how irritating that can get) - yet after much input, and taking into consideration that this song is VERY special to us, we have made some adjustments. The link is still the same.

TBOT will never make any money off of these covers, if anything we just want to expose new people to the Sisters (and maybe hope Andrew will be inspired to release the REAL studio versions one day).

I quite like Faunamok's brief punky cover of BE from their Bastard LP of 2010 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru1anN0V7TI.
Another of the many versions of FALAA - this time a Finnish metal one from 2000 taking a few liberties with the chorus and middle eight : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MShfyf-V ... re=related

Sounded like a Depeche Mode cover of the song. It gets the official DeWinter thumbs up. :notworthy:

Just one thing:

http://1959.tsom.org/aftervt_notes.html#song5

:von: says "Note the vocal switches between English and German pronunciations of the name Suzanne, which is a deft - and mellifluous - twist in a song about "sameness". Draw your own conclusions."

Pedantic yes, but there you go.

Never seen that. True enough it is, though.

btw, the links on 1959 AND ALL THAT are often out of function because The Sisters Website has been re-arranged since. For the lyrics section there by now see:

and for this special song:

Do we also take mixes by other artists into account?

It's the Lucretia lyrics but the music doesn't bear any resemblance whatsoever.

I didn't know that guy so far, and from hearing the "cover" I'm not interested in hearing more from him but generally, I prefer covers to be recognizable. Of course that's just my take on it.

i'm also not interested in listening his music, but i'm familiar with (name of) his band (Nevermore). One have to be addmited, his music fits to current sound/incrination of TSOM.

Actually the riff is the same; it's just played on electric guitars rather than bass guitar. I find something attractive in the version, even if I don't exactly "like" it.

Not bad. But not good either. On a second thought, it is rather bad.
