I wonder if anyone can help this impoverished Oxford University college in their search for one of their missing alumni who matriculated (at the second time of asking, allegedly) in 1977 ... http://www.sjc.ox.ac.uk/1997/1970s-Missing-Alumni.html

Impoverished? It used to be the case (and might still be) that you could get from St John's Oxford to St John's Cambridge without leaving land owned by one of the two colleges.

Indeed. It's amazing that they feel the need to chase reluctant short-term alumni like :von: given the size of their foundation and the fact that they are now fleecing each and every undergraduate for £9K a year.

Do the fees at Oxbridge go to the Universities or to the colleges though?

And incase he's reading, he needn't worry, I'm past caring. I'll be walking past in a Sisters tee on the way to Marching Men practice Von so give me a wave. 8)

I've been advised that further clues wouldn't be appreciated.

My Dad lives near me and he's seen him about. He probably cares more than I do.

My parish priest once asked me why I always ran out of church and down the road to the pub after mass.

I replied, "Father, does the Good Book not tell us to thirst after righteousness?"

He's not that close to that road really. I will be undoubtedly killed if I give any further information though so I'm outta here!

With the info already known, anyone really intent on tracking :von: down would already have done so. But the guy has clearly closely guarded his privacy for thirty years now and I think we should all respect that.

If he's ditched the beard, then Jackie Wright's a serious possibility (him off Benny Hill)...
