CALLING THE HEARTLAND HELPDESK

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I am trying to get in to my Hotmail a/c by clicking on the icon and it won't let me, it comes up with "HTTP 403 Forbidden - means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage."
Is there any brainy person out there who can tell me what button I have pressed but shouldn't have and what incantation do I need to utter to get things right.
Any help gratefully appreciated

Use Firefox or other similar web browsers rather than IE

I think the first thing to do is to clear your cache in IE & then try to reload the hotmail page.
Sometimes it happens that sites or pages will be updated & if you don't empty out the cache you end up encountering issues.
It's the first thing I'd try really.
Cheers.

Ask for computer help online and you'll get a slew of smartarses saying use a different browser/OS/computer/universe. You have to sift through that dross to find someone like Pista who actually answers the question you asked and offers the advice you're looking for.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

Many thanks for all your advice both the helpful and the not so.
I have found a way back in to Hotmail by a different route but the longer term solution will be to replace the valve driven computer.
