|Fellow Sisters fans, I write you with notice of MARCH VLADNESS: http://marchvladness.com, a NCAA/March Madness/single-elimination-style tournament of goth, in which 64 essays about 64 goth(ish) songs play off, game by game, until a winner is crowned at month's end.
Mostly it's reading and arguing about fantastic songs and fine memories of bygone days, and what goth meant/means, etc. There are games most days (you read the essay, listen to the song, and vote; winner is the one with the most votes).
Today brings you Bauhaus up against The Church: http://marchvladness.com/sweet16-bauhausvschurch/ —and Bauhaus is leading as of halftime but the game is NOT over—and Christian Death beating (so far) Nine Inch Nails: http://marchvladness.com/sweet16-ninvschristian/, which is a rightful outcome in my view.
Tomorrow will bring you The Creatures vs Swans and Peter Murphy vs The Birthday Party.
I want to alert you to this not just because I think you'll find it interesting, but because I'll be representing the Sisters ("Lucretia My Reflection") against The Cruxshadows on Wednesday. Normally you'd assume that Lucretia would be a lock, but the Cruxshadows (excellent band btw) are super mobilized on social media, and they've been crushing songs so far in the tournament. That is, the Sisters of Mercy (not the most social-media-savvy band of all time, however great) will need not just your vote but your ability to get out the vote against these upstart darkwavers to have a chance and make it into the Elite 8.
That is, your vote (and eyes/ears) are needed.
I'll post the link to the game when it goes live on Wednesday (9am Pacific time in the US) should you want to read the essay and vote your heart (heck, vote Cruxshadows if you think the song or the essay is better than Lucretia…).
Either way I think you might enjoy the songs, essays, and the conversation. Also follow the tourney chatter on twitter @marchvladness …
