For you to give feedback to the Heartland moderators. Wish lists, fault reports, etc. You may get an answer, you may not. As in all things, it largely depends on how nicely you ask the people in charge... You're welcome.

(please don't copy links to them in here - it just feeds the spammers and turns heartland into a link-farm, damaging our 'trust' ratings on google & bing)

also, i've added this code from here:

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:User_rights
...

that should stop some of that spam, but i'll look into more rigorous settings when i get time.
Sorry, I was not aware of that links issue ... so thank you for the hint (and of course for deleting ...)

Also sorry to say, you've missed the first pack of them again ...

Maybe this were also a good idea. No more deletion logs in the recent changes ...
This example will create an arbitrary "ninja" group that can block users and delete pages, and whose edits are hidden by default in the recent changes log:

$wgGroupPermissions['ninja']['bot'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['ninja']['block'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['ninja']['delete'] = true;
I really think, it were all much easier, if I could delete those pages and users immediately, when I see them, instead of having to molest you or others with this spam ... :roll: ...

Fine... that was a hell of a job on your part as well ... :wink: :notworthy: ...

And your measures seem to work.
Only four more new pages yesterday and not even one new user today so far ... :notworthy: ...

Who knows, maybe the automated spammer system is preparing for other expeditions at the moment ...

... to come back for another full blast next week ...

Btw, I've created a new template ... ;D ...

Seems it's time to block this new user ... and the other two as a matter of precaution as well ...

* Btw, nice what you've done with the Recent Events ... had thought about shortening and changing that as well, but hell ... :lol: ...
Now it's done and does look better ... :notworthy: ...

sorted :)

don't really get much time online at weekends... i spend anywhere upwards of 7 hrs a day at work online, and then anything else i might do in the evening.

weekends tend to my off-line time ;)

yeah, I had already imagined ... but they obviously start spamming again ... and I'll be in Stekene ... :wink: ...

Therefore, I expect some explicit flooding ... :eek: :urff: :lol: ...

But hell, we can as well sort it out afterwards.
And maybe nothing happens, anyway, due to some spontaneous maturation ... :wink: ...
That were nice.

Thanks, anyway ... :) ...

This is also largely the case for me.

I am on twitter as @markfiend and I can usually be reached there fairly quickly (via twitter on my phone) but I may not always be near a PC to block / remove spam.

If this gets abused I will get cross :lol:

Well, spam can be deleted and unfriendly new users can be blocked on Mondays as well if it's not just a hell of a flood increasing exponentially by the hour ... which we didn't have so far.

What I find more important is the fact, that for the third time in series Heartland was down shortly after Quiff had removed the Wiki spam and blocked their initiators ...

I suggest, as we discussed similar issues on PD, the solution we've got there, i.e. demanding "new users" to

Please correct the following Sisters related expressions:

Temple of Quilts
Wanda The Gnu
Kiss the Curtain
Intellectual Love Judge
The People's Republic of West Tibet
f**k you and marry kim young
1989

or something similar. It works on PD, so why shouldn't it work with the Wiki.

that last one is somewhat ambiguous - could be 1959 or 1969. But your point stands.

Thanks for letting my points stand, but PLEASE, can't there anything actually be done about it?

I'm getting so pissed with all those senile military dating sides, recently.

the problem is that while there are add-ons for phpBB (which heartland and poison door both run on, albeit different versions) to add that feature, as far as i'm aware there are no add-ons like that for mediawiki, which the sisterswiki runs :(

so in short, no. i don't think that can be done.
