Just got back from Near Meth Experience @ Joseph's Well, it was small, dingy, hot, & sweaty.

But the boys kicked Ass

When I got there at around 2pm there wasn't many people there yet. At some point a guy came and replaced a poster with July's gigs with augusts and within minutes it was taken down again and in someones pocket. Here's a crap webcam pic of the flyers which were the same as the poster. (its 1am and the scanners bloody noisy hence the poor webcam pic)
Image
Drinking and talking until just after 6pm when word got round that they were throwing everyone out at 6.30, so a queue started forming. We queued for an hour until 7.30 by which time everyone badly needed the toilet. Then we were all let in and given a ticket each.
Image
Once the ticket went in my pocket it stayed there as nobody ever asked to see anyones ticket!

The gig lasted from around 9.30-11.00 with a brief break of a few minutes halfway through (probably for the band to have a drink, take a slash, whatever).
The set list didn't contain any surprises or new songs. The sound was really good. The guitars sounded clear and crisp, much clearer than I've ever heard them before. A few few funny Von comments which I can't remember now but which will get mentioned once people have a chance to replay minidiscs/cassettes.

Every man and his dog seemed to be holding aloft a phone or digicam so there should be plenty of photographs as soon as people upload them.

Right, I'm knackered, I'm off to bed.

I'll just add 'Phewie! It was a warm un!'

Thought they got better about three quarters of an hour in. And the encore stuff was ace - sounded much better, but that might have been because I'd moved nearer to the front.

Very nice garment, but if he doesn't shave next week I swear I'll turn around and return from the front row to the very back, and just listen to the gig and watch the lightshow in all its glory.
So, who else is in the band?

Von looks really "senior"... bet he had a recent video shoot in the deserts of Petra, eh? ;-)

Setlist has been posted in another place here, as far as I've seen.

One question remains: Who were the axemen? Adam? Chris May? Anyone here to enlighten us?

Sorry to go slightly off topic but there was an excellent quote said at last nights gig by one of the heartland mob which I said I would share with you all.

We asked doomie where is the red light area of Sheffield (long story) and she replied "Its down Bridge Street I used to work down there?"

Thanks :-) Nice to have Adam still around.

I still wonder how much they will tinker the setlist, but I guess I'll find out on Saturday. To see whether "Slept" makes a comeback or not...

i'll do a short review as soon as my head stops pounding, but in short it was f**king great :D

got a few photos from the camera phone. not as good as biggy's obviously, but you can see the rest of the band and the stage too, so will maybe help you put it all into context ;)

No. Please. I can stand the fact that my neighbour has a new Toyota, and that the headmaster's daughters earn much more than me although they don't do anything. I'll survive the fact that there are many countries with better standard of living and warmer climate than here. But this is just too much for my nerves today.
Can I start weeping loud and banging my head onto the f**king keyboard now?

Indeed.

They were probably sitting in a small computer running DOS 3.3 somewhere towards the back of the stage :innocent:

I think she was alluding to a severe case of jealousy.

But that's only a wild guess ;)

Exactly. I'm jealous and angry and I think life's not fair and it all brings a strange nausea and tingling in my stomach. I never thought jealousy could be a physical feeling.
