@ Jenny - Top lady. Sorry. But you know why.

@ Francis - Top man. Really gutted. I know I've fucked up our entire touring schedule. Sorry again.

@ Val - One day.

Have a good time guys. Love to you all.
Sorry to hear this Johnny. :( Especially as you had been looking forward to it for weeks. Maybe circumstances will change and you'll be able to make it afterall.

1 week to the NYC gig - WOO! Do we have a roll-call of who's coming?

What do we have now, it sounds like at least five, including yours truly, at Webster Hall?

There are plenty of bars near the venue, down on Second Avenue for sure, and literally around the corner on Third Avenue is that dive bar, cant' remember the damn name, it's kind of crusty if I recall, and would fit the bill.

Guessing we wanna get in early, and get on the floor? Don't wanna be up on that balcony. Pre-gig fueling a must, a flask, too if they're not strip-searching people (with the Hall's booze prices).

Looks like there are still tickets, but I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out---what does the place hold, 1000-1100 maybe? Here's to hoping that ancient floor doesn't collapse, either...

Hello,

Since I can't make it to NY I have two Will Call tickets for the Webster Hall, (ordered at Artist Arena) to give away free of charge.

...the confirmation email from artisarena.com says "Please bring your confirmation number and a picture ID"...I am not sure how strictly this is enforced, but I guess a scanned .jpg of my ID will do as well.

first PM wins.

Thanks, bm

Who is this Will Call geezer anyway? I hope he doesn't expect a tip.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

Wasn't he the original dummer in the Bunnymen? The one who died on his superbike going to a recording session? Or the bassist? Scotty! Help! :?

does anyone know how strict Webster Hall is about the 18+ age thing?
i want to bring a 16 yr old friend's son, and the venue info says 18 with ID.

do they really card people going in to a concert there? he certainly looks 18.

also, what's the best place nearby to park, as i'm driving in from PA.
i'm familiar with Manhattan, been there dozens of times.

thanks again to bloodmoney, he's gonna get a nice package from me in gratitude!

I think if your friend's son looks over 25 or so he should have no problem, but they will card for anyone who looks close to 18, i guarantee. To park near Webby Hall go to E 11th St. between 2nd and 1st Ave (closer to 2nd, south side of the street... and 11th St runs to the east, so drive south on 2nd and make a right on to 11th). There's an inexpensive (by Manhattan standards) garage there, and it's only a few blocks from the venue. Closer garages exist but they're pricier.

Mr. Bismarck - how are we looking for a rendezvous for Monday night? The Darkness fast approacheth. Thinking a few beers around 7ish, get to the venue for 8ish and worm to the front?

Pardon my despotism, but in the absence of other suggestions:

The meet-up bar will be The Thirsty Scholar on 2nd Ave. and 10th Street.

OK:

I think we should all meet at a bar called Nevada Smith's. It's a bar (maybe more like a pub) that caters to English soccer fans, but I chose it because it's right around the corner from Webby Hall and extremely spacious. It also has $5 pints of imported beer which is - by NYC standards - extremely cheap. No hip alternative-rock atmosphere, just good cheap drinks and a place to meet that's less than 100 yards from the gig.

So here's the addy: Nevada Smith's -- 74 3rd Avenue (between 11th and 12th streets on the west side of 3rd Ave.) -- meet at 7pm.

My cell phone is (917) 848-5998 for anyone who needs a contact within the group.

Wow...two meeting place posts within seconds. Yes, the place I kept referencing as 'seedy' is Nevada Smiths, but that wasn't a reference to 'English soccer' or the people it attracts, so I could be thinking of another place. I did once curse out the doorman there, but I think it was long enough ago that I should be fine, ahem.

Yeah, it is literally the closest bar to Webster Hall. With an English theme. Very nice.

Let's just all agree on some place, my preference is anywhere with alcohol.

I say Nevada Smith's. We just need Corpy to comply.

I will be at the gig, but not up front this time; I doubt that my brother-in-law who lives in New York wants to deal with a pit. Besides, it will be nice to compare the light show from farther back to other gigs.

I will try to hook up before the gig, but it may not work out for me.

Some may want to take a peek at Heartland Breweries, but this should notbe taken as an endorsement.

I look forward to seeing some of you there. :notworthy:
