bump.

Surely somebody has some idea where he went to... and the truth behind his departure? One of the remaining sisters mysteries to me...

According to "The Dark Reign Of Gothic Rock" he departed after the release of Temple Of Love because he thought everything was getting a bit too serious. He then went back to school and formed the short-lived band "Torch".

from what i've been told, gunn was never a huge fan of eldritch's mock rawk-n-roll stylings (even if they were 'ironic'). the whole leather trousers and leather jacket thing left him cold, and eldritch's sex and drugs posturing was not to his taste.

as far as i can tell, he was much more into john peel-esque indie (the fall etc) - more art school than rock school, if you will.

i also understand that he was none too fond of all the attention, so as has been said, after the barn-storming geetar epic that is ToL went through the (indie) chart roof, its conceivable that it all got too much for him and he bailed...

maybe.

thats my interpretation of events based on what a few people who were around at the time have told me about him.

yep, that's pretty much as i have it from an old drinking buddy of his. except more emphasis on the 'joke gone serious' aspect of the gigging/ band thing...reptile house tour saw the sourtimes

i think:

he got a degree from liverpool and then went into teaching

he has a page on friends reunited

Ta for the info... I'd always thought he'd been booted from the band.

Anyone know if Mr Marx or anyone ever keep up with him?

[Bit of a derail] Just remembered another thing from the book. It mentioned that Craig Adams was out of the band for a couple of weeks and he missed one show (I think late 82/early 83). Does anyone know what show that was and who filled in?

That was the time he went off on some photography stint, wasn't it? It would have been Jon Langford on the bench for him.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
