1959

I’ve been listening to 1959 on repeat today after being verily moved by it and feeling like I’ve “really gotten what it’s all about. To me, the whole song is about disappointment and regret. The narrator reflects on his childhood and how everything started out pure and clean, including hi...

I knew her death was inevitable from the moment I heard of her. She was nothing but a political tool, as indicated by the support of the UK, US and western media in the last few months (how many westerners had even heard of her beforehand?), used to provoke extremists. Now the US and UK has some mor...

I think his (why is it never a her?) role is rather questionable, since so many musicians manage to successfully produce their own music :? Having said that, that's not to dismiss them entirely. It's when they take on the role of svengali that I get suspicious... To understand the importance of a g...

The sisters:modernism with or without the 'post' prefix?

The distinction between modernism and postmodernism has always seemed barren to me. Furthermore, I believe each artist should be taken on his own terms. Nonetheless, I embarrassingly admit that sorting artists into categories can make for what I consider interesting conversation. Often it can shed l...
