Have you established a good reputation at HL and got some Sisters stuff to sell or trade with the community? Or are you searching for that elusive ultra rare live bootleg from 1988? Ever had a bad experience with a trader on Ebay? Let us all know here. Outdated threads will be purged over time.

Due to growing discordance (or at the least my awareness thereof) between the worldviews and political philosophies of mine and mr. Eldritch, i have lost all interest in the pursuits - past, present, and future - of TSOM.

Short version: i am not a collectivist, but an individualist, and as such find socialism, in all its forms - both left and right - undefendable.

Long version: you have to figure out for yourself. But i won't hold my breath.

Thank you kindly to the few people i came to know and appreciate around here.

When you gonna wake up, folks?

I don't know whether I get you right, itnAklipse, but in the point that fascism shows by its means and conventions, I agree ...

Nonetheless, I think, The Sisters were NOT like that from their beginning and if they got there somehow, that was wrong, but it is nothing that could not be overcome by intelligent creatures.

Apart from the fact, that we all were in it ... and we will not gonna wake up before The Sisters do, or will we - dare? ...  ...

I expect you back, soon ... ;D  :notworthy: ...

IMO one can be an individualist in one's personal sphere yet favour an economic system run on a collectivist basis.

Humanity is a social species. While I value individuality, any attempt at a political system that ignores this undeniable fact is doomed to failure.

Yes, it's that time of year when itnAklipse cuddles up with a semen-stained Ayn Rand book and his own over-compensated inferiority complex.

Oof.

Re Ayn Rand: As Dorothy Parker once said, (admittedly about a different author) "this is not a book that should be tossed aside lightly. It should be flung with great force."

Am I the only one who's failing to see why an artist's political philosophy should impact on your continued enjoyment of their music? It's like, I know Ian Curtis voted Tory and that's against my own political preferences, but I still think JD were an awesome band. Don't see why it should go different with the Sisters.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

You're not the only one.

In Andrew's own words:
Eldritch wrote:I think the great lesson of the 20th century is that you have to separate the ethics from the aesthetics. The Nazis did have the best uniforms, there's no denying it. The great lesson there is that you don't have to agree with what the Nazis did, but, yes, be honest about it, they did have the best uniforms. A lot of people can't come to terms with something as banal as that. They can't admit it, because somehow they feel like they're approving of what the Nazis did.

In that case the cause of the problem would lie squarely with the person making the decision rather than with the factors on which the decision is claimed to be based, no?

You might think that, but I couldn't possibly comment.

No. Just didn't care enough to bother posting. Someone who spends most of his time arguing with people and writing incomprehensible diatribes says they're not going to come and do it any more, you shrug and forget about it.
